It’s hard to live in a time and place where no one appreciates, remembers, or talks about Jasmine Guy’s outrageously weird, relentless, and strangely moving performance as Whitley Gilbert on “A Different World.”  So fucking weird, and so fucking good.  Acrobatic, even.  How come Whitley Gilbert isn’t still a thing?

For instance, this was the only YouTube video I could find of a good Whitley scene.  Why aren’t there YouTubers constantly uploading her best and weirdest tantrums, looks, faces, line-readings and twitches?

C’mon.

I was on a hayride once with her, David Dinkins, Arthur Ashe, and Melvin Van Peebles.
